Disclosure: I was given this wine in exchange for this post. All opinions here are my own.

When I first heard of Really Good Boxed Wine, I was a bit skeptical. Most boxed wines taste overly sweet and are served at frat parties, but this is the first boxed wine to be associated with a Master Sommelier, the highest title in the fine beverage and wine industry. So, I decided to think outside the box and try it (pun intended).

Really Good Boxed Wine is derived from Paso Robles, more specifically from a certified Sustainable in Practice (SIP) vineyard. Not to mention, it has a 50% lower carbon footprint than its bottled wine counterpart, so you can save the earth while imbibing.

Really Good Boxed Wine is also more cost-effective. One box, which is three liters, equates to four bottles of wine (no, that is not a typo) and costs $65. Mathematically speaking, that is $16.25 for each bottle. Since it stays fresh for about six weeks upon opening, the wine has less time to go bitter, meaning less wine down the drain and more wine in your glass.

I tried the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon and let me tell you, I had some thoughts.

For starters, this isn’t your average boxed wine. The name is a little underrated – it should be changed to “The Best Boxed Wine You’ll Ever Have”.

The taste was pleasant and complimented my dinner of ravioli and pork. Regarding the nose, it smells drier than it tastes. The aftertaste is warm and slightly dry with an extremely smooth texture. It tasted very high quality and if I was blindfolded, I would have guessed it came from a bottle.

Be wary when pouring, however – it dispersed a bit fast from the nozzle, making my half glass of wine turn into a full one.

The nozzle also seems a bit sideways, but that can also be user error on my part upon first opening it. Regardless, tasting Really Good Boxed Wine was a great experience and one I would recommend for wine lovers everywhere.
