Product Review: Zodica Perfumery

Whether you read your horoscope every day or are just merely curious, one thing is for certain: the zodiac is fascinating. Zodica Perfumery gets it and has created scents specific to each sign. Full size bottles are beautifully crafted with crystals, custom poems, and intentions.
Not to mention the scents are cruelty-free, eco-friendly, vegan, and free of phthalates and parabens.
Travel Size Perfume
The packaging for this is so gorgeous that it makes the perfect birthday gift or present for bachelorette goodie bags. Its top is decorated with the gold symbol of the sign it contains and the bottle is twist off for spraying ease. The bottle is also refillable.
Both my sun and moon sign is in Cancer, so naturally I have this as the travel size spray. This floral scent has notes of rose, plum, and violet. I love rose scents but can’t stand when they are too powdery. This was the exact opposite: fun, uplifting, and perfect for summer.
Discovery Set
Why limit yourself to just one when you can try all 12? The Discovery Set comes with 1.5 ml tiny spray bottles and description cards for each astrological sign. You can wear each scent during its corresponding season, or, as the site suggests, layer scents using your natal chart. This way, you can carry your sun, rising, and moon signs with you throughout the day.
Below is each sign, the scent notes listed on the website, and my personal rating. Let’s take a moment of appreciation for how the scents are not only indicative of each sign’s personality, but for the time of year they occur.
- Aries (March 21-April 19)
Top: Cinnamon, Blackberry
Middle: Tobacco Flower, Amber
Bottom: Vanilla, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Musk
Rating: 4/5 Cozy with a touch of gourmand. Think oversized sweater worn with your favorite pair of leggings and booties.
- Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Top: Iris, Lily of the Valley
Middle: Heliotrope, Geranium
Bottom: White Amber, Sandalwood
Rating: 5/5 Feminine and clean without smelling like laundry detergent or overpowering soap. A winner for sure.
- Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Top: Clementine, Grapefruit
Middle: Orange Blossom, Mimosa Flower
Bottom: Teak and Balsa Wood
Rating: 5/5 A few words to describe this scent: light, citrusy, sophisticated, fun. I spritzed it on a day I was wearing a flowy dress and it paired perfectly. I highly recommend this perfume even if Geminis do drive you crazy 😉
- Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Top: Sweet Plum
Middle: Violet, Iris, Water Lily
Bottom: Rose, Sandalwood
Rating: 5/5, but I may be biased because this is both my sun and moon sign. It’s not complex by any means, but it’s pleasantly floral and evokes summertime vibes.
- Leo (July 23-August 22)
Top: Mandarin
Middle: Jasmine, Gardenia
Bottom: Patchouli, Honeysuckle
Rating: 5/5 Not in-your-face bold like this sign’s attitude. However, the scent is reminiscent of blue skies, sunshine, and a light breeze. Pretty and feminine.
- Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Top: Granny Smith Apple, Pomegranate
Middle: Pink Magnolia, Jasmine
Bottom: Sandalwood
Rating: 5/5 I’m OBSESSED with the juicy Granny Smith apple notes, and kept sniffing my wrist all day. It’s floral, fresh, fruity, and perfect for the office or warm sunny days.
- Libra (September 23-October 22)
Top: White Peach, Brazilian Mango
Middle: Freesia, Violet
Bottom: Sandalwood
Rating: 3/5. Inoffensive and office-friendly, but not my style. The mango is detectable in the dry down, surprisingly.
- Scorpio (October 23-November 22)
Top: Tuberose
Middle: Ylang Ylang, Rose
Bottom: Patchouli, Oak Moss
Rating: 4/5 Warm and spicy with a subtly sweet undertone. Perfect for cooler months, aka Scorpio season.
- Sagittarius (November 23-December 21)
Top: Strawberry, Blackberry
Middle: Jasmine, Cinnamon
Bottom: Madagascar Vanilla Spice, Dark Musk
Rating: 1/5 The scent came off as super sweet on me, but then reminded me of honeydew melon. Odd, because melon is not a note in this fragrance. Perhaps it was the strawberry and blackerry I was smelling. I rated this low since I found it saccharine and prefer lighter smells, but others may enjoy it.
- Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Top: Japanese Yuzu, White Tea
Middle: Green Sage, Lavender
Bottom: Clean Musk
Rating: 5/5 My favorite of the 12. So fresh, clean, and uplifting! I was instantly in a good mood after a few spritzes.
- Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Top: Verbena, Bergamot
Middle: Cardamom, Lily of the Valley
Bottom: White Fir, Sandalwood
Rating: 5/5 Aquatic and refreshing. Think summertime vibes in a bottle. I truly, truly love this one.
- Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Top: Neroli, Cucumber, Pear
Middle: Cyclamen, Water Lotus
Bottom: Sheer Musk
Rating: 1/5 I washed this off 20 minutes after applying it. It’s too strong and someone described it as “old lady”. I love my Pisces people, but this perfume wasn’t it for me.
