Product Review: Peg Leg Porker Bourbon Whiskey
Disclosure: I was given this product in exchange for this post. All opinions here are my own.
Hailing from the Gultch in Nashville, TN, Peg Leg Porker has been serving BBQ since 2013. Currently, the brand is now serving bourbon and different varieties of it, too. This includes Peg Leg Porker Tennessee Straight Bourbon White as well as Peg Leg Porker Tennessee Straight Bourbon aged for 8 years, 12 years, and 15 years.
I had the opportunity to try the Peg Leg Porker Tennessee Straight Bourbon White version and had some thoughts.
Aged for about 4–6 years, this bourbon whiskey is de-barreled and then finished through hickory charcoal. It has 90 proof with 45% ABV.
I found the nose pleasant, subtle, and almost non-existent. The taste was smooth, proving to be a good intro bourbon. However, I do prefer whiskey over bourbon as it tends to have more bite and a smokey flavor.
Overall, I found it to be okay. It was not bad, but okay. Personally, I think this would be better as a base for a mixed drink than served neat.
