Bushwick Kitchen’s Bees Knees Honey Gift Set

Bushwick Kitchen is a truly innovative store. From hot sauce to honey, from pancake + waffle mix to sriracha, there is something for every household.

I tried the gift set of their honey called Bees Knees and can honestly say I’ve never owned honey this unique in my kitchen before. Here are my thoughts.

To taste test these, I tried them by themselves and on manchego, ibérico, and goat’s milk cheese.

Bushwick Kitchen’s Salted Honey

Salted Honey

By itself, I could definitely taste a salty flavor, but it was not too strong. Interestingly enough, it first tasted salty and then sweet. I particularly enjoyed it with the ibérico cheese.

Bushwick Kitchen’s Spicy Honey

Spicy Honey

Alone, this honey was way spicier than I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE spice, but it didn’t taste like honey at all. This is not for the faint of heart. Not to mention, the heat creeps up on you: first, it tastes sweet, then turns spicy.

Eating it on manchego cheese drowned out the spice, but it complemented the ibérico cheese. This was my favorite flavor, and I would love to try it on fried chicken.

Bushwick Kitchen’s Meyer Lemon Honey

Meyer Lemon

When I tried this flavor by itself, I detected a slight citrus tang. I found this flavor paled in comparison to the others, but it is better than your average honey.

I did, however, try all the flavors together on a spoon and loved the outcome. The flavor profile was tangy, sweet, and then rounded out with spice. Regarding color, the spicy honey has a more orange hue while the lemon and salty varietals are indistinguishable, they look so alike.

Bushwick Kitchen is also sold on Amazon. Be sure to check for Prime Deals this holiday season.
