Product Review: Aqua ViTea Kombucha
Disclosure: I was given these products in exchange for this post. All opinions here are my own.
Aqua ViTea owner Jeff Weaber was previously a beer brewer in Oregon where he not only finessed his skills in the fermentation and brewing process but learned about digestive health and the role food plays through his wife, who was pursuing medical degrees. After trying his first kombucha and conducting research about its health benefits, Jeff realized he found his calling.
After his wife graduated, they moved to Vermont where Aqua ViTea was born. The business made its official debut in 2007 and maintains sustainable practices for creation and packing. For instance, the packaging binding the cans is recycled and recyclable 100% rHFPE.
I had the pleasure of trying the Aqua Probiotic Seltzer in Grapefruit + Thyme as well as the AfterGlow Hard Kombucha in Apricot Dream. Read more for my take.
Aqua Probiotic Seltzer: Grapefruit + Thyme
This seltzer is infused with organic kombucha and according to the can, “contains 5 billion live probiotics.” This is great for your gut!
It also contains only 1 gram of sugar and 15 calories. Most kombucha beverages are high in sugar, so this is good news for those who avoid kombucha for this reason. In addition, Aqua Probiotic Seltzer has antioxidants and is organic, vegan, and gluten-free.
The grapefruit flavoring is subtle and not too strong, making this refreshing drink a delicious alternative to water. Other flavors include Raspberry + Lime, Cucumber + Mint, and Pomegranate + Cherry.
AfterGlow Hard Kombucha: Apricot Dream
The AfterGlow Hard Kombucha is made with hops, black tea, apricot juice from concentrate (the can contains less than 1% juice), green tea, and kombucha. It’s also organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO.
Nutritionally speaking, it has 150 calories, 10 grams of carbs, and 7 grams of sugar. So, it’s not as healthy as the seltzer but is a seemingly healthier alternative to other alcoholic beverages out there. Speaking of alcohol, it has 5% alc/vol.
The juice color looked exactly like the color of an apricot and had a lovely, light apricot taste. It’s slightly fruity but not as overwhelmingly sweet as cider or too bubbly like some seltzers. Other flavors of the AfterGlow Hard Kombucha include Ginger & Blueberry, Citrus Rush, and Cherry Sour.
Both beverages are perfect for the hot summer months ahead with plenty of flavors to choose from. Visit aquavitea.com.
Please note that AfterGlow Hard Kombucha is not available for online orders at this time.
