Amazontella founder Ludmilla Azevedo grew up in the Amazon. Her fruit spreads and seasonings are indicative of her culture, featuring native fruits such as açaí and cupuaçu.

I had the pleasure of trying three fruit spreads from this woman-owned business. Read below for my opinions.

This was smooth and well-blended with a mild fruity taste. It actually was not as tangy as I thought it would be! I put a teaspoon of it in my oatmeal along with blackberries, cinnamon, ginger, and chia seeds. It mixed exceptionally well.

The açaí fruit spread would work great for an almond butter and jelly sandwich, especially for those who do not like chunky, sweet jam.

This actually looks like apricot jam. The texture is just like apple sauce with a mild, enjoyable taste. I ate it on toast topped with blueberries, sea salt, and flaxseeds. The cupuaçu might also pair well with a bitter cheese to counteract flavors.

Cupuaçu Pepper

Not surprisingly, this was more flavorful than the original and is my favorite of the two. It’s not spicy, but it does have a more robust and full mouth taste.

I put a spoonful of this in my oatmeal and mixed it with flaxseed, blueberries, and oat milk. This would be delicious with a mild cheese or on a warm biscuit.
