Disclosure: I was invited to attend Gloria Trevi’s concert in exchange for this post. All opinions here are my own.

Bright bodycon dresses frolicked through Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood this Black Friday. But instead of scouring designer discounts, the crowd gathered to see Mexican songstress Gloria Trevi in all her, well, glory.

The show opened up with a rotating video of earth. It transitioned into old art and videos flashing across the screen. Worldwide events, such as landing on the moon and explosions, showed. There was also a three minute timer, counting down. Audience members had their phones set to video, waiting for Mexican Madonna’s arrival.

Two set of stairs were brought to connect onstage with dancers atop. Flat feathers came to life, revealing Trevi in a glittery revealing ensemble, wearing the wings a la Victoria Secret’s angels. Sparkles adorned the stage ceiling like a tree as she opened with “Que Hago Aquí?”

As Trevi spoke to the audience, one of the dancers changed her outfit onstage. Adorned in a purple glittery minidress, tights, and knee high silver boots, she jumped into “El Recuento De Los Danos”, to which the audience gladly sang along.

She then proceeded to belt out “No Quieras Lastimarme”. Attendees waved their arms back and forth to the ballad, showing as much if not more emotion than Trevi. As an animated moon rose behind the songstress while she stretched her legs in the air, it was clear she was keeping everyone captive.

After “Vas a Recordarme”, she spoke again to the audience as dancers with glowing glasses posed onstage before hoisting her on their legs. Talk about multitasking.

Performing the sassy duet “Hijoepu*#” solo, the dancers added a studded black leather jacket to her ensemble. Salsaing onstage, she immediately segued into “Me Lloras”, which was decorated with blue, pink, and green flashing lights.

Trevi then spoke about how one can turn on the news and see attacks towards innocent children in school and against gays in a nightclub, despite going through a horrible pandemic together. She also explained that her show was dedicated to escaping from the terrible news to a tropical, fun island.

Police sirens and lights came onstage for the rock heavy “Dr. Psiquiatra”. Trevi changed once again, this time in a one armed sequined beige and silver outfit with a new pair of knee high boots.

The dancers dissipated as the songstress performed solo to “Recuerda Que Me Tienes a Mi”.

Trevi gave some comedic relief before the energetic “Cinco Minutos”, dry humping and swigging from a glass a dancer handed her. A vest with patches was added to her outfit.

Following, she chatted with the audience as she changed behind a sailboat. The outfit could be described as bohemian mermaid with fishnet and tan scales. This was for “Soñando” and “En Medio de la Tempestad”. The theme was stormy at sea.

Trevi flipped her hair in helicopter fashion for “Pelo Suelto”. Giant inflatable palm trees and flamingoes materialized as “stormy at sea” transformed into “tropical party”. A slight wardrobe malfunction occurred when her skirt popped off. Trevi played it off, laughing and briefly lifting her skirt to reveal her one piece undergarment. Luckily, one of her dancers fixed it. Alas, she announced she had to change, saying there were also cannibals on the island. Cartoon tiki figures moved on the screen as backup singers in tiki skirts and leis crooned to the wild beat.

Trevi appeared with a shimmery gold and silver grass skirt, giant lei, and sky high heels for the tropical themed “Sube”. Her dancers disrobed her skirt and top, revealing a short and flashy silver set for “El se Equivocó”. An animated waterfall flowed next to a heart shaped rock as two male dancers took their sailor tops off, much to the audience’s delight.

Whoops erupted as a dancer took Trevi’s skirt off to reveal silver briefs. She wore a flowy pink shirt dress over it as she sang “Con Los Ojos Cerrados”.

One of the highlights of the night was during an instrumental break. An audience member in a Hawaiian short gyrated and danced in the upper level. He drew so much attention that the dancers onstage pointed, motioning for the camera man to pan toward him. The crowd loved him almost as much as they loved Trevi.

She then appeared onstage in a white flamenco dress performing “La Recaída”, ending the number with a flamenco dance from a shirtless male performer.

Trevi then spoke to the audience, explaining that this was the last stop of the US tour and that the Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood was her divine island (the name of the tour). Of course, there was another outfit change: she stripped off her dress to reveal a leopard print sundress. The emotional ballad “El Favor de la Soledad” was up next, with plenty of audience participation.

“Ensayando Como Pedirte Perdón” and “Vestida de Azúcar” followed, where she proceeded to strip off her leopard dress to reveal a tight glittery gold leotard. Simultaneously singing, she did a back bend, opening and closing her legs.

Dancers in gold gladiator outfits marched across the stage before Trevi emerged in a short royal blue and silver dress accessorized with a tiara, sparkly gold booties, and detachable gold and blue sleeve for “Gloria”.

“Grande”, “Todos Me Miran”, and “Fuego con Fuego” followed. For the cheeky “Ábranse Perras”, Trevi wore a white feathered leotard with elbow length gloves.

Glitz, glitter, and glam was the over arching theme for the concert. Trevi closed it out with “Mañana”, giving hope that she’ll come back soon.
