The interior of Cove Brewery

With rising temperatures and insufferable humidity, there’s nothing that sounds more refreshing than a cold beer. It’s a fine balance, however, between a tasty brew that’s too heavy and one that is bland and weak.

Corey Wilson, brewmaster of Cove Brewery, may have found a solution. His concept was simple: he wanted to build a “brewery that felt like it was Florida”.

Adorned with bright splashes of blue, white, gold, and leaf decor, Cove Brewery is certainly an anomaly to its darker counterparts. Along with the tropical atmosphere, TV screens showcase live footage of the Deerfield pier.

Fun beer menu

The beers match the vibe: Half are traditional German lagers while the other half are IPAs, fruits, and sours. As Wilson said, he wanted beers that can be consumed at the beach. Each one is created to be invigorating on a hot day.

I tried the Boardschwarz, which combined a stout taste and a Pilsner body. With the coffee undertones, I was surprised at how light the beer was. I can most definitely see this being served poolside on a sunny day.

Guests can order from Wom Toms, an Asian inspired eatery located next door that is part of the Eat Drink and Be Local restaurant group. After ordering via the QR code, meals are conveniently brought to the brewery.

For a fun, laidback atmosphere and easy-to-drink (but not tasteless) brews, Cove Brewery is the way to go. Just don’t be surprised if you see more flip flops and board shorts than your average brewery.

Cove Brewery is located in Deerfield Beach at 1500 SE 3rd CT. Visit CoveBrewery.com.
