Anyone who knows me knows that I take my snacks very seriously. Baby carrots are my personal favorite, and if I can pair them with hummus or a tasty dip, it’s even better.

Haig’s Delicacies, a Mediterranean food brand that is both women and family owned, creates not just tasty dips, but ones without preservatives. Operating since 1956, the ingredients used are also non-GMO.

Intrigued by this store that uses products incited by family recipes, I tried the muhammara and baba ghannouge dips.

Haig’s Delicacies muhammara dip

Muhammara

This walnut dip is described as “nutty and exotic” on the packaging, and I couldn’t agree more. Made of red peppers, walnuts, and pomegranates, the dip had a whipped texture. I would personally describe it as rich, but not overwhelming. I ate it with snap peas, baby carrots, and crackers.

Oddly enough, I found it tasted like tomatoes, which may be caused by the red peppers. This could easily be a crowd favorite and would probably taste great with a hard cheese like manchego.

Baba Ghannouge

This dip was described as “rich and smoky”, and I can definitely agree with the smoky part. However, I found the muhammara to be richer. This eggplant spread also had a lightly lemon citrusy finish, which was a pleasant surprise. I preferred this dip over the other, but I’m also partial to smokier flavor profiles.

Visit Haig’s Delicacies to find a wide array of dips and spreads for all of your hosting and snacking needs.
